The City of Perth Library is an iconic Perth building which opened in December 2015. Designed by Kerry Hill Architects and built by Doric Contractors, the building has received many awards and accolades. However, over time, the stone cladding featured on the outside of the building was impacted by expansion and contraction defects and needed to be replaced.
In keeping with the original design, parts of the structure were modified to support the new sub framing attachment, the Nvelope NV3 concealed fix system using SFS TUF-S Anchors in conjunction with the Equitone panel.

About Nvelope NV3
NV3 is the Nvelope system for mechanical concealed / secret fix cladding applications. Secured using hangers and undercut, stud anchors or screws to provide a concealed rear fixing. Horizontal carrier profiles are fixed to our vertical profiles. Rainscreen panels are hung from and secured to the horizontal profiles with adjustable hangers. Nvelope ‘T’ and ‘L’ profiles are fixed using Nvelope ‘helping hand’ support brackets, fixed through a series of fixed and sliding points. Nvelope fixed point brackets absorb both vertical and dead loads.
Nvelope bracket spacing is determined by cladding options such as the dimensions and weight of the facade cladding, local wind loads, cladding zone and substrate. Nvelope sliding point brackets absorb wind loading and allow for expansion and contraction.
About SFS TUF-S
The TUF-S blind fastener from SFS is superior to previous approaches to the concealed attachment of fibre cement, HPL or GRC type cladding panels.
Installation can be performed quickly and securely by one person, without using special tools. Installation time can also be reduced by up to 50% compared with conventional blind attachments. The TUF-S blind fastener can be removed once if required.
